On September 5th, 2016, Bar Code Graphics officially launched the ECIA 2D Barcode Certification portal, http://ecia.identificationlabs.com. Bar Code Graphics was selected by the Electronic Component Industry Association (ECIA) to assist with advancing their entire industry towards 2D barcode adoption. Through a collaborative effort of all the top distributors, Bar Code Graphics was able to create a common industry 2D barcode specification, which met the needs of all participating companies. To maximize supply chain efficiencies, data quality, and traceability, 2D barcode labeling will be present on products, intermediate packaging, logistic labels and packing slips.
Identification Labs, the testing arm of Bar Code Graphics, will provide barcode certification services for the entire global industry. By unifying the industry to common 2D barcode label formats and a central testing agency, suppliers will only be required to certify their barcode label formats once for all of their trading partners. Currently, the participating distributors in this program include; AVNET, Allied Electronics, Arrow Electronics, Digi-Key, Future Electronics, Mouser, Newark, Sager, and TTI.
